| Bio | Since 1997 Professor Francis Robinson has been Vice Principal of Royal Holloway, University of London, where he has been Lecturer, Reader and then Professor of the History of South Asia. He was Visiting Professor at EHESS, Paris, South Asia Program, and the University of Washington, Seattle, Middle East Program 1997-2000. He has been President of the Royal Asiatic Society since 1997. Professor Robinson's publications include: Atlas of the Islamic World since 1500 (1982); The Cambridge Encyclopedia of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan and the Maldives (1989) ed.; The Cambridge Illustrated History of the Islamic World(1996) ed; Islam andMuslim History in South Asia (2000); The 'Ulama of FarangiMahall and Islamic Culture in South Asia' (2001). |
