| Bio | Nick Lera is a freelance TV producer and former BBC cameraman. In 1969 and 1970 he won the News Cameraman of the Year Award. War zones covered in the course of his career included the Middle East and Vietnam, 1972-3, the revolution in Portugal in 1974 and the US evacuation from Saigon in 1975. He participated in 'Newsnight' coverage of China in 1985 and 1989 and of the collapse of Communism in Eastern Europe, 1989-90. Between 1991 and 1994 he worked on 'Newsnight' profiles of leading political personalities including Benazir Bhutto and President Suharto. He has been a lifelong train enthusiast, and has produced video railway histories and TV programmes on railway journeys. |
