| Bio | Sir Hugh Cortazzi GCMG started to learn Japanese in the RAF during the war. After graduation from the School of Oriental and African Studies, London University (SOAS) in 1949, he joined the Diplomatic Service and served in Tokyo, Singapore, Bonn, Washington and London. He was British Ambassador to Japan from 1980-1984. |
