| Bio | Emeritus Professor C. R. Bawden had a distinguished career at the School of Oriental and African Studies in the University of London, where he was successively lecturer, reader and professor of Mongolian from 1955 to 1984. He is the author of a number of works, including The Modern History of Mongolia (1968), Shamans, Lamas and Evangelicals: The English Missionaries in Siberia (1985) and a Mongolian-English Dictionary (1997; reviewed in Asian Affairs, February 1998). |
