The Sachal Jazz Ensemble play their first concert in the West

Lahore-based Sachal Jazz Ensemble's sitar and tabla twist on Dave Brubeck classic is a YouTube hit. Founder Izzat Majeed's labour of love has been to rediscover the best musicians from the old Pakistan film industry and create an ensemble which is now interpreting Jazz Standards and Bossa Nova. They play Queen Elizabeth Hall, SE1 as part of the Alchemy Festival (0844 875 0073), (southbankcentre.co.uk/alchemy) on April 17 and Sachal Jazz - Interpretations of Jazz Standards and Bossa Nova is out now on Sachal Music (sachal-music.com)
